OVERVIEW
This foundational graduate course explores concepts, process and practice in media arts in cross-disciplinary contexts. These include issues surrounding the creation of media arts for gallery, installations, multilinear formats, public spaces, and other emerging environments. The course features systematic readings that pinpoint the discourse that is taking place between disciplines such as computer sciences, visual art, cultural studies, and aesthetics. Students apply these readings in media arts and their methods through the creation of a series of works and brief position papers.
